“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

Gratitude Journal - March 10, 2021 Today, I am grateful for spring rains. I love the fact that spring rains wash away all the dirt and grime that winter and snow left behind, bring out the worms, and start things moving towards green. It makes the whole world feel new and fresh again. For this, I am grateful.

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalms 31:24

Gratitude Journal - March 9, 2021 Today, I am grateful for my ability to learn from my mistakes. Looking back, seeing where I made missteps, and then moving forward and not making those mistakes again is a valuable part of growth. I’ve made lots of mistakes in my life. I’ve trusted people I shouldn’t have trusted, done things I shouldn’t have done, and bought stuff I didn’t need. Thankfully, I can learn from these past mistakes and not repeat them. For this, I am grateful.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalms 119:105

Gratitud Journal - March 8, 2021 Today, I am grateful for the public library system. While libraries provide access to a wide variety of books, typically free of charge, they also offer much more. Libraries are a gathering point for education; tutoring, group study sessions, and classes happen every day at libraries across the nation. Further, libraries often provide free WiFi and computer access to those who do not have access. Many libraries have programs to help the unemployed find work by allowing access to job search databases and websites and providing resume guidance and help. Finally, libraries lend much more than just books as many allow patrons to check out audiobooks, eBooks, musical instruments, and more. For this, I am grateful.

Gratitiude Journal - March 5, 2021 Today, I am grateful for our collective ability to record and preserve history. From family gatherings to world events, we have tremendous power to record and save what has happened for future generations. From simple tweets to Facebook posts to videos, we create a tremendous historical record every day. I hope that they do not repeat the same missteps and mistakes we have encountered through this. That they look at our historical record and learn and are better for it. For this, I am grateful.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

Gratitude Journal - March 4, 2021 Today, I am grateful for forgiveness. Our ability to forgive others and be forgiven by others allows us to clear ourselves of past mistakes, learn from them, and move on. Being stuck in the errors of yesterday prevents us from growing and improving. Forgiveness is the only way to get unstuck. For this, I am grateful.

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

Gratitude Journal - March 3, 2021 Today, I am grateful for the incoming spring season. While I know there are still cold days ahead, the longer daylight hours and warmer tempuratures are a positive indication that things are once again changing. Change brings new life and new opportunities. For this, I am grateful.

“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Ephesians 4:14-16

Gratitude Journal - March 2, 2021 Today, I am grateful for my home. In 2019 over 500,000 people in America experienced homelessness. Further, this number is, at best, a low estimate as counting the actual number of homeless is nearly impossible. Mental health issues, a lack of affordable housing, social problems, cultural difficulties, and economic hardships combine to make this problem a difficult one to solve. In America, we have made progress, but we need to do much more. I realize I am lucky to have a warm home to shelter and protect my family. For this, I am grateful.

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.” Colossians 2:8
