Gratitude Journal - March 14, 2021 Today, I am grateful that I have the skills, opportunity, and drive to help others when they need help the most. I’ve spent most of my adult life as a firefighter and EMT, and as such, I’ve seen my fair share of tragedy and pain. Last night was no different. However, I always try to leave these scenes happy that I was there, ready, and able to help. For this, I am grateful.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Isaiah 43:2

Gratitude Journal - March 13, 2021 Today, I am grateful for my Concept2 Rowing Machine. What a solid and fun piece of exercise equipment. One of the best investments I’ve made in my home gym. It gives me a great, full-body, low-impact workout in a short amount of time. For this, I am grateful.

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” 1 Peter 5:8-9

Gratitude Journal - March 12, 2021 Today, I am grateful for my health. Like all of us, I’m not getting any younger. However, through intentional work and some good genetics, I continue to stay reasonably healthy. I have a bit of normal wear and tear, but overall I’m active, happy, and healthy. For this, I am grateful.

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26

Gratitude Journal - March 11, 2021 Today, I am grateful for knowing that where we are today is not where we have to remain. Each of us can improve, change, and grow. We don’t have to accept the position within which we have found ourselves. We can take action and make things different. In this way, we each can create our future, build it the way we want it to be, and live our best lives. For this, I am grateful.

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10

Gratitude Journal - March 9, 2021 Today, I am grateful for my ability to learn from my mistakes. Looking back, seeing where I made missteps, and then moving forward and not making those mistakes again is a valuable part of growth. I’ve made lots of mistakes in my life. I’ve trusted people I shouldn’t have trusted, done things I shouldn’t have done, and bought stuff I didn’t need. Thankfully, I can learn from these past mistakes and not repeat them. For this, I am grateful.

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalms 119:105

Gratitud Journal - March 8, 2021 Today, I am grateful for the public library system. While libraries provide access to a wide variety of books, typically free of charge, they also offer much more. Libraries are a gathering point for education; tutoring, group study sessions, and classes happen every day at libraries across the nation. Further, libraries often provide free WiFi and computer access to those who do not have access. Many libraries have programs to help the unemployed find work by allowing access to job search databases and websites and providing resume guidance and help. Finally, libraries lend much more than just books as many allow patrons to check out audiobooks, eBooks, musical instruments, and more. For this, I am grateful.

From family gatherings to world events, we have tremendous power to record and save what has happened for future generations. From simple tweets to Facebook posts to videos, we create a tremendous historical record every day. I hope that they do not repeat the same missteps and mistakes we have encountered through this. That they look at our historical record and learn and are better for it. For this, I am grateful.
